Packing up and skipping town

So, this is what I do. And I always do it quite in advance. I like to be prepared, I like to make sure I have everything - yes I like to be in control.

We are leaving in 3 days and heading to Oz. My week of course is extremely busy, filled with appointments, my last days of work which then means a leaving do and also my strict gym/cycle/pilates routine. But I must ensure all is packed and that I am super prepared for the next 2 weeks.

So my packing goes a little something like this -
- I start by teaming up outfits in my head, ultimately matching a skirt with a few different shirts making sure everything kind of works in together. Although I would love to take everything I own, I can't.
- I think about relaxing clothes (laying around the house) I think about beach clothes (these are different to regular clothes), I think about going out clothes and of course my gym gear.
- I then categories and pile everything in skirts, shorts, dresses etc.
- I then start laying out my handbags, jewellery and make up in certain parts of my room, as most of the things I will be taking I am still using up until I leave.
- Shoes - shoes are always last. I pack in, then take out, then pack in again. I always take oto many, unpack and then decide again.
- Cabin luggage - The process is, I grab my Longchamp bag and throw everything in! What is in here?? Book, laptop, eye mask, socks, lip cream, eye drops, hand cream, mirror, passports and documents, notebook, pen, iPhone, iPod, camera, mints and of course my purse.

So there you have, my packing process - now I'm ready to skip town!
Hoo-roo

See, lots of little piles everywhere

Finders keepers

A nice little find on my last week at work!

Sydney on my mind

I have had Sydney on my mind recently and I think it could be the fact that I will be arriving home in 1 week. It could also be the fact that people keep posting amazing pictures of the city skyline or of them  laying out on the beach, which only tantalise me more and encourages my mind to loose focus on the now!

But what brings me back to Sydney for 2 weeks is the need to squeeze my nephews, hug all my friends and family, soak up some sun, have a relaxing time and celebrate our engagement!

Watch out Sydney!

How could you not love this city!

My blog of the moment

I have many sources of inspiration but my main one at the moment is bJones style. I have been following her blog for some time now, way back when it was named The vintage Society.

I have always been intrigued by her style, her creativity, her ambition and how she got to where she is today. (I guess that should be something I should ask her!)

Heathrow injection

Every Australian says that when you move to London you are bound to get the Heathrow Injection.

Definition - Heathrow Injection: The phenomenon of sudden and very rapid weight gain, particularly experienced by non-British persons, upon settling in London.

I think it comes down to a mixture of -

  • going out and socialising, often drinking,
  • eating quite random foods, mostly quick dinners late at night and
  • a cold winter (not wanting to leave the comfort of your home with the radiator on)

But I have been VERY determined for this NOT to happen. And how I am doing this you ask?

POP Pilates!

Pop Pilates has become my new found obsession. I try to as often as possible, in the comfort of my own home, to complete a few sessions to ensure my body is in working order. I ran across these videos on you tube and like Cassey the instructor, I think she has spunk and motivates me to try. Her amazing body also shows to me that this works!!

So, I've got my new pilates mat and I'm ready to POP!

Check out Cassey's website here and join me!

What happened London?

OK, so I had a bit of time on my hands yesterday and was able to study the abnormal weather patterns that swept across London.
I woke up quite late and was sitting watching TV when the strongest wind I have every heard slammed into the window bringing rain and hail and causing people to almost be blown away.(Trust me, I am not over exaggerating)

I think the crazier thing that happened was the difference in the sky only 20 mins later...
London, what went on?

When the storm hit

From the same window 20 minutes later

Um, it was like the storm never happened!?

NYE 'Part Deux'

...And then it was on to celebrating NYE London time. And the way this was going to happen was a house party in London Bridge - the prefect venue and close to the city for the fireworks display.
I always said to myself that my first Christmas and NY in London would actually be spent in London (I will have other chances to celebrate in other countries).
So we dressed up, drink and crisps (chips!) in hand and headed down towards the river to bring in the NY.
I hope everyone enjoyed their NYE - I know we did!
