Brings back memories

As a child I remember my mum purchasing an amazing book filled with portraits of glamorous Hollywood actresses. This book took up many of my hours, as I flicked through the pages wishing I could be one of these beautiful women. Their beauty astounded me - everything from their hair, to their make up, to their clothes and the dreamy finish of the actual photo.
I feel this book could have ultimately started my love affair with all things vintage.
So to revisit my childhood I took myself to the National Portrait Gallery to see their exhibition of Glamour of the Gods Hollywood Portraits.
I walked around in awe of all the photographs of actresses such as Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and my favourite Katherine Hepburn. I reminisced the times I spent looking at that pivotal book and noticed all the classic movies these actresses had been in that I had seen with my mum or heard her talk about.
The exhibition was beautiful and I highly recommend you to see it, es specially any one who, as a child dreamed of being like these women just like I did.

Exhibition is on until October 23rd

Katherine Hepburn - stunning!

R.I.O.T.S

A friend asked me 2 nights ago if I was anywhere near the riots happening in London, I answered back 'what riots?'.
To my surprise in a Northern London suburb a fiery protest had broken out. I thought about this and the fact is that so many things can happen in London without you even realising it is going on. I really think that is quite a scary thing!
Although I may not have known about the riots 2 nights ago, turning on the television and browsing through the web, all I see is the affect that has been created and started from careless actions.
I never really mention or discuss topics like this, as I think everyone should have their own opinions and also shouldn't be bombarded with other peoples thoughts. But when a significant event like this comes up that could ultimately now affect you its best for people to be aware of the situation.

Day off!

Now what a day off! At first I was slightly disheartened. After 6 beautiful days of sunshine and lots of heat, Thursday brought rain. My morning exercise plan went out the window but I was out of bed and knew I had to make the most of my day. I headed out and opted for a beauty treatment due to my upcoming trip to Croatia(jealous?) and then snuck into Zara to have a 'look' at what was new. So maybe not the best idea as I purchased a gold cardigan but I did come out with a bargin, 10pound trousers, that's a steal! - fantastic part of the day #1.
After my quick shopping trip I started to make my journey home and to my delight on the side of the road in Notting Hill was this amazing vintage table. So I throw my new clothes in my handbag and picked it up, jumped on the bus and then walked it home. I have to say my arms are paying for it today - but fantastic part of the day #2.
When I reached home the rain had finally disappeared bringing out a small amount of sunshine. I thought to myself, what can I do?
So, a week or so ago I mentioned to the team at work about lamingtons and to my surprise they were not sure what these were. So my idea, make lamingtons!! And did they go down a treat. Fantastic part of the day #3.
All good things do come in threes!

The table from the side of the road and caught the bus with me!

Yum! The lamingtons

AM's last supper

AM's last day approached and after a massive and extremely fun weekend farewell we thought we would have a last supper down by beautiful Southbank.
Southbank is AM's favourite place in London due to all the beautiful landmarks and surrounding culture.
After hitting Ping Pong's for dinner we strolled around and took some touristy photos to prove we live in London!
