6 days off

I am two days into my 6 days off and London, you have done me proud. Can you believe that the next 3 days of weather will be above 25! It's October and Mother Nature is bringing out the best. London's summer wasn't great and I am not here to complain about the lateness of it, but praise and worship her decision. And it also couldn't have come at a better time coinciding with my annual leave.
I decided a few weeks back that I would take some time off (originally hoping to sign up for a course, but then found out it was all booked). Instead of cancelling this time off I decided to continue with my break and enjoy what London has to offer!

Ok, so it didn't start out the best. My Wednesday night was an enjoyable farewell party however my Thursday was spent sleeping and maybe recovering. After my all day sleeping session (and yes I hear you say a wasted day) I got ready and headed to a beautiful friends birthday in Shoreditch for Oktober fest! I was well behaved and enjoyed the massive pretzels and 1/2 litre ciders.

Now that two days of my six have passed I want to ensure I get to do all that is on offer.
Now, I'm a list person, so the list has made an appearance.
1) Find a vintage pencil skirt
2) Car booting on Sunday and possibly Saturday
3) Must go to gym everyday! Barbados diet still in place
4) Picnic in a fabulous park in summer dress while reading a book
5) Take more photos of London (seeing the sun is out this is a perfect opportunity)
6) Visit new Stratford Westfields and watch a movie
7) Write up business plan (!)
8) Write up college application
9) Write lots of emails and contact people back home
10) Soak up all inspiration around me! This is London and inspiration is around every corner.

I think that should keep me busy for the next few days!

Ahh...London!

LFW - that's London Fashion Week

The fashion buzz that comes for one week during September and knocks you over with excitement has sadly come to an end. My fashion hangover has begun and slight post-depression is rising.
The past weekend I headed with a friend to Somerset House to see a show, to people watch, sip champagne and gain inspiration.

As I was not privileged enough to be able to see all the shows, to be still involved I streamed a few catwalk shows and studied the designers pictures filtering my favourites and being in awe and unfortunately judging the rest.
I recommend the following to all fashion lovers as they were all by far my favourite and as a great critic does I named my reasons why.
I thoroughly enjoyed Erdem's mix of floral print on print and vintage vibe, Christopher Kane's metallic goodness, Burberry's cropped trenches and pom pom hats, Mary Katrantzou's sharp shapes and playfulness with vivid colour/ and print and ahhh my man Matthew Williamson, whose feminine pieces delighted my eyes and I think always will!
So here's to fashion week and looking forward to February...

Fashion's Night Out

Vogues fashion's night out was last Thursday and I was taken, by my friend, to the GQ H&M party. We mixed it up in store with Gin & Tonics, Cosmos (yep for men) and cider while listening tunes spun by guest celebrity DJ (see below pics). All in all a fun night ending on a McDonald's high. I think you definitely know its been a good night when a sneaky cheeseburger is had.

So here's to London Fashion week starting tomorrow and attending a few more events! Gotta make the most of the opportunities!

Westfields

OK, so the new Stratford Westfield is opening tomorrow and although Westfield's is taking over London as the new most amazing place to shop, I am glad to admit that it is an Aussie who owns it and has made this happen.
Check out the promotional video going round (I think it's really quite clever)

new love!

My new love! The Coach Duffle Bag in navy!
I have had an obsession with navy leather for a while and wasn't sure if I would find the right bag. The right bag with a touch of vintage yet still modern.
I think it was love at first sight!

HAIR!

Do you like this?

Or this?

Or the one on the right?

Moving cities created my next challenge of finding a hair dresser. For a woman this is one of the most difficult decisions to make. My hairdresser from Sydney had been cutting my hair since I was 15 years old. He knew everything about my hair and how to cut it and always let me do what I want with it and it would come out amazing. He styled my hair for my school formal and countless weddings. He was my hidden secret and any trip back home I will be making sure I visit him.

However, it has been 6 months since I have been in London which means it has been 6 months since I have had a hair cut...

The question is who do I trust, what salon will be reasonable and also how should I alter my look without coming out looking ridiculous?!

Argh! Help!

Inspiring

They accepted the pleasures of morning, the bright sun, the whelming sea and sweet air, as a time when play was good and life so full that hope was not necessary and therefore forgotten.

Man flu

My latest stint of sickness has made me realise how grumpy I now become when sick. Talking to a workmate yesterday and pouring out how bad I felt and almost sneering when saying it made me come to the realisation (told to by them) that maybe I have caught man flu!
Being diagnosed with man flu would be bad enough but being told by a man is worse!

When I got home from work I decided to search up the term Man Flu -

The common term as mentioned in wiki is -
The term that refers to the idea that many men , when they have a cold, exaggerate the claim that they have the cold - the implication that women do not do so. A commonly used term in the UK but growing in many cultures. (and the best bit) There is growing scientific basis for this phrase. Ha!

So there you go - I don't have man flu. I haven't been over exaggerating my sickness maybe just a tad grumpy because I hate being sick, I see no use for it!

After this I decided to search Woman flu and to my surprise there is a definition -
Woman flu is a dreadful disease which causes seriously ill women to pretend to be well and relentlessly go to work. The opposite of man flu.

There you have it and Wiki never lies.
