So I know I said I would back on here writing sooner then this. Didn't I say 21 hours and 31 minutes? Maybe I have been watching 'Rent' too much and think my life is a musical, creating a song almost adjacent to one that's out there already. Either way I cannot hide any more and need to come to terms with telling you why I have been away for so so long.
Wow I do sound very dramatic and by no means is this a dramatic story, its a story of 3 months in London and my reasons to why I haven't posted.
From my last post here you saw that I was jetting to New York City. Ah, New York City, what can I say. I love this place, it has stolen my heart. I had an amazing experience with amazing friends and enjoyed every moment. I do feel I was unable to discover the city completely however it gives me reason to go back time and time again to explore the rest. The only unfortunate thing was that I got quite ill. Being unwell in a different city is hard enough but being unwell in America is something you don't really want. The health system is crazy, charging a fortune if you don't have private health insurance.
My mum said to the day before I left to double check my travel insurance as I was heading to America, she made me cautious and worried, making me check and check that all would be ok. I wonder now if maybe this was a jinx (sorry mum) but either way I became unwell, unable to talk, having a fever, breaking out in a whole body rash and then self diagnosing myself only to freak my self out even more.
I finally succumbed and had a doctor visit and inject me with anything that would make the horrible rash disappear and give me my voice back. The worse thing was I had to see her again to get clearance to fly. Could you imagine seeing a girl getting on a flight covered in a red swollen rash? Would you really want to fly with her?
I do have to say upon my return to London I was very depressed, I missed the city, it was raining in London (after a warm New York) and my boyfriend was heading on a 2 week trip to Poland. I couldn't shake it, I think it stole lot of my creativity. I guess being sick for the next week also didn't help the cause.
After New York I vowed to enjoy London as much as I enjoyed New York. I think I was starting to become comfortable and almost at ease with my life here not discovering anything new.
We moved not long after to East central London to a new flat in the middle of it all. I have to say I love the flat and the location but not always the drunks that without fail spend every Sunday night below the apartment block drinking and yelling. I have started to wear ear plugs.
As the London summer continued on, summer trips became a pivotal part of everyone's lives, as the rain for me doesn't really count as a summer. Our summer trip was Ibiza!
At the beginning of the trip I remember waiting at the airport with our friends saying that I really think that this would be my only trip to Ibiza, as once you go you've seen it all and why would yo want to go back... my thoughts now have changed. I would head back in a minute. Ibiza isn't all about big clubs, being out until 6am, sleeping all day and then doing it again. Its about the beautiful beaches, the food, the culture and soaking up your surroundings. This is only if you stay out of St Antonio. We were very lucky with our accommodation, staying in a villa in the mountains just outside of St Jose. I recommend to anyone to rent a place with friends away from the main towns and to grab a car and discover the island. I loved it!
On our return to London, the sunshine must have followed. Giving us a week of beautiful days. I think if the rain was there when we arrived back, I would have packed my bags and left the country!
My attention in London soon turned to work, house warmings and the Olympics. All three things brought special times with friends, lots of enjoying the city (as I vowed to do) and new discoveries. The Olympics gave London a great vibe, not a busy vibe but a great one - I got to see the Olympic torch go by and I attended a Beach Volleyball match. Everyone that went to the events talks about how much they enjoyed.
I sit here now in a coffee shop, writing on my laptop (how very Sex and the City of me) the real reason is because we don't have internet at home. My attention now turned to the heat outside, that's right the heat, 31degrees in fact. Hoping I have explained or really filled you in with where I have been.
My bigger attentions beyond this day is to continue writing and sharing more with you, exploring new projects and continuing my travels.
Come to think of it, I will be in Madrid this time next week....
one trip, a few words and I'm ready to discover what's in store for my life... My name is Karina and I am making the BIG life changing move overseas to the UK. It’s time for me to make the move and discover what could be awaiting me.

What a show!
London, you have been putting on the performance of your life this past week. Sunshine, love and happy thoughts have filled the air and minds of every person I have walked by.
It has made me feel at home, made me feel warm and gooey inside, made me enjoy London and the magnificent parks, which we unfortunately don't get to use too often.
The weekend felt extra long and I'm looking forward to the sunshine heat wave...
How did you spend your weekend?
Mine....

In the sun - I will come - to see Barbados
Things will be quiet on word of the trip for a week - you see, we are heading off on Saturday for a week in Barbados and internet connection is unlikely.
But don't worry I will be thinking of you all while I lay on the beach, sip rum and eat coconuts!
Looking forward to sharing it all with you...

Points 3), 5), 6)
My Sunday was filled with me working through my list...and I have to say I managed to get through points 3, 5 and 6.
We cruised in the heat through the Columbia Road flower markets, wandered around Brick Lane and listened to an ol' crooner band in the streets.
We also checked out the new Westfield in Stratford - you see it's an institution for an Aussie to visit any Westfields... we have to, it reminds us of home!

Ciao Ciao!!
And so it begins...officially our first trip abroad and the main reason we came here.
Having to wake up super early on Friday morning was hard but I had to tell myself that in a couple of hours you will be out of cold London and lying on a beach! Yep that's right 2 and a half hours later and we were laying out under the sun on our quick weekend trip to Sardinia. Sometimes in life you have to pinch yourself and this moment was definitely it.
Sardinia was beautiful - I tried my hand at the small amount of Italian I know, tried to burn my skin in the sun hoping it could soak up the vitamin D it has been missing and ate my weight in carbs all in a day!
Heaven!!

The weekend that was
Wow - what a week!
We finally had our first get away and tied it in nicely with Easter.
Roadtrip Cornwall was a success. A success in such that we ate all the food we set out to eat. You see, Cornwall is the home of Cornish pasties, seafood, clotted cream, cream tea and Cornish ice cream, and yes indeed I ate all of the above. Slightly regretted it afterwards but at the time I devoured every moment of it.
Our Cornwall trip was filled with laughs, new sayings (including mocking TOWIE) and seagulls the size of small children.
Unfortunately when we arrived the rain began, ruining any dream of sun baking or swimming, although would you really want to swim in 10 degree water? After driving around various Cornish towns, enjoying market stalls, tracking down the best Cornish pastie (then feeling sick from it) and getting scorned by locals when driving down the wrong side of the road it was time to head home. Oh and low and behold the sun came for a visit. To enjoy the sun and Easter day we decided to head to Padstow for a seafood lunch feast from Rick Stein's fish shop.
It was nice to get away from London for a few days and put on hold our search for work and a home. London can consume you esspecially if you are new and are not settled. It was a very, very nice change.

what one does on a sunny day
Ok - so I've read every magazine cover to cover, watched countless British TV shows, walked miles upon miles so I asked myself what else is there to do? But when the sun comes-a-shining in London you need to make the most of it. I also think that I probably need to stop complaining because when I actually get a job I will be dreaming of these days when I did nothing.
And for a bit of fun, here is London's Forecast for you all. Jealous??
Thu 20degrees
Fri 20degrees
Sat 18degrees
Sun 21degrees

marvellous day for a bike ride
So London has hit 17degrees and yesterday was the hottest day of the year - so why not celebrate with a bike ride in Hyde Park.
After we spent 30 minutes trying to work out how to rent the bikes we finally got going.
Our main intentions of this bike ride was to -
1. Enjoy the sunshine
2. Fitness
3. Gain our bearings of London Town
So we definitely enjoyed the sun (I think my jacket might have come off at one point....(shock horror, bare skin!!) Point 1 - Tick!
And we got a great leg work out, Point 2 - Tick!
But, gaining our bearings around London, well 2 out of 3 aint bad...
